Today, Terry Daniel and I made our General Session presentation at VOICE2010 on how to leverage Social Media to your best advantage for your VoiceOver business.
If you were there, I hope you enjoyed it.
If you were not there, you can see the entire presentation, and reap the benefits of all our work.
We’ve prepared a resource website on Social Media JUST FOR Voice Actors. Instead of putting more pages in the VOICE2010 workbook, we just decided to save a tree, and put it all “in the cloud”…I mean after all, this is what our presentation is all about — being online and making it work for you.
You’ll find our entire PowerPoint presentation, as well as pages and pages of advice, information, links, tutorial videos and much much more when you visit this site:
We’ve worked hard to make this a resource guide for voice over talent for now and in the future, so we hope you use it and use it well to your advantage when you have questions about social media.
We hope you will let us know if you think something’s missing…something about the site isn’t working right, or we got something dead wrong.
This is YOUR resource site, and we hope you use it to your full advantage.
COUNTDOWN TO VOICE2010: SEVEN DAYS
Several voice actors have asked me recently whether I thought the Platinum membership at Voices.com was worth it. I choose not to answer that publicly here, but promise an honest answer if you contact me personally.
What I CAN say is that the PR portion of the agreement works like a charm.
I wanted to pump-up visibility of my co-presentation with Terry Daniel at VOICE2010, and worked with Stephanie Ciccarelli on a few details. She whipped up the content, asked for my approval, and since then, I’ve seen the article show up in a number of the online PR sites.
HERE’S ONE…and ANOTHER.

All year, it’s been mounting…the June 2nd deadline…the time when it ALL has to be done.
Am I over-booked? Yeah.
Is it fun? Heck yeah!
As a co-host and presenter at VOICE2010 this year, I’ve known for at least 8 months that I had much preparation to do. Did I leverage that lead-time? (ouch!)
Ya see…as a news person of lo, these many years, I’ve been perfectly trained to wait until THE DEADLINE to get stuff done.
So here it is, now, two weeks until the first full day of V2010, and I’ve still got gobs to do. There’s my Social Media presentation with Terry Daniel…my co-hosting duties with Bobbin Beam (which includes composing introductions for half the speakers)…and then there’s my commitment to SaVoa at this event: a booth, promotional materials, t-shirts to order, and troops to rally.
But wait, there’s more! At noon on Friday, I’ll be leaving the conference to fly BACK to Vegas to be at my daughter’s High School graduation. YEAH! In the middle of everything, I have to get myself to the airport. Don’t worry, I’ll be back again Saturday morning. Quick turnaround!
Finally, I’m a contributory blogger for John Florian’s VoiceOverXtra site for the duration of the event. Will I get sleep at all? Sleep? Who needs it? I can’t wait to see everybody…and I’m so stoked about meeting Andy Boyns…flying all the way in from Istanbul, Turkey…not to mention my excitement at sharing a boffo presentation on the opportunities of Social Media for your Voice-Over business with Terry Daniel.
You’re coming, right?

He doesn’t have a clue what he’s getting into with me…so don’t tell him, OK?
Minneapolis-based voice-actor Terry Daniel is my partner in a Friday Morning, June 4th General Session at VOICE2010 – an international conference for voice over professionals.
We’re working hard down-the-stretch to get all the best information possible for you in Leveraging Social Media for Voice Actors. Yes, we’ll have lots of information, but we plan to have fun, too. Serious. Fun.
See Terry’s on-camera recording, recently, explaining what’s ahead.
We hope you’re registered to come to VOICE2010. There’s still plenty of time.
Go to THIS website to see all the info, and to get enrolled.
You’ll be seeing lots about this in the days ahead, so you might as well get used to it now!
Thanks, Terry!

Make no mistake, many things are going on in the background big-time as preparations build for the only major conference for VoiceActors known to mankind.
VOICE2010. You know…that thing happening in Los Angeles in June of this year.
The early-bird pricing specials are over, but James Alburger and Penny Abshire have plenty of surprises that may benefit you as a registrant between now and then, so keep your eyes open for specials. Those of you who are SaVoa members will be seeing a promotion distinctly tailored for you as well. If you haven’t seen it or heard of it already, contact your SaVoa Advisory Board member for more.
Actually, I’ll be IN Los Angeles this weekend as a sort of advancer. The reasons I’m there vary from pure R ‘n’ R to professional…don’t ask…but call me if you wanna get together with me. I’m there by noon Friday, and leaving about the same time Sunday.
You truly need to be there if:
1) you like to see, talk to, and learn from all your VO peers
2) you’re a seasoned professional
3) you’re a learning professional
4) you want to meet any and everyone in this biz who has connections
5) you want to learn the latest in gadgets, methods, technology & techniques
6) you like to see how crazy VO’s get after-hours.
But all this is not what I REALLY wanted to get to in this blog article…what I really want to know is what YOU want to know about applying Social Networking to your VO Biz. Terry Daniel and I will be doing the General Session Saturday morning, and it should be worth your while. Got questions? Let us know now. Seriously. Call me at 702-610-6288 or email me at courvo@courvo.com with your thoughts. Make a comment below. We want to make this something you can take to the bank.

All voiceover artists come to find their niche over time. Not only the area where their best voice talents are put to use, but the method by which they apply their best marketing techniques.
Minneapolis-based Voice-actor Terry Daniel knows how to make the most of social networking to bring in the business. More than that, he’s awful darn good at finding a way to let people know he’s good at making the most of social networking to bring in the business.
Don’t believe me? Read THIS.
Terry and I have struck up a personal and professional relationship over the years, partly out of respect, and partly out of realizing that we share a common geekiness about Voice acting.
I’ve chosen NewMedia/Social Networking as my most favorite marketing direction. Terry and I keep stumbling into each other this way, and realized we had that common bond – so much so that we’ll be partnering to do a presentation in June of next year at VOICE2010 on social networking.
I’ll admit to being the junior partner in this topic-team, but I hope to bring a few things to the table as well when we see you in L-A….and you ARE coming, right? ;-}

Another great reason to make it to the June 2010 conflagration of voice artists in Los Angeles: VoiceOver champ Terry Daniel and I will be presenting on the topic of making Social Networking.work for your VO business.
OK, well, maybe that’s a reason NOT to come.
Nah…Terry’s great, and we’re just a couple of geeks who’ve found some ways to make Twitter and FaceBook work in our favor.
HERE’s the link to the official VOICE2010 site, where sign-ups and early registration are now open.
