Recording Review

This is one of those industry newsletters I signed up for somewhere along the way, usually deleting or ignoring as I peruse my daily email:

RECORDING REVIEW

What caught my eye this time around is their comprehensive, state-by-state list of recording studios.  Click HERE.

Some of you may want to be listed there, and others may find a lead or two among the sites on the list.

Recording Review also hosts a forum.  That’s HERE.

Like the EQ online magazine I often support in my blog, Recording Review seems slanted towards the garage band, musician, or studio technician/producer.  But as you can see if you visit, a good many of their articles and posts could easily benefit a voice actor (microphones, software, studio construction, etc.)

RR is also now offering a free publication designed to help you set up a home studio. HERE.  I think it’s a hook to get you to buy something, but the free download may be worth it alone.  Please let me know if your experience is negative (or positive for that matter).

Worth a look!

VO Tips from ProTools User Group

protoolusers‘Came across this site somehow in my meanderings yesterday.

Two of the members of ProToolsUsers.org discussing some tips on recording the human voice using ProTools.

You might find something of interest in THESE two posts.  If not, and you use PT, this may be a site to find some answers from time to time.

Joe, George & Zurek

So often we hear of people, or literally HEAR them in the VO biz…but it’s kinda fun to see the person behind the voice sometimes.

Check out this video with Eldorec‘s George Whittam, VoiceOverUniverse‘s Zurek, and Joe (needs no introduction) Cipriano, talking, expostulating, having fun, and reacting to people’s questions in a re-broadcast of a VU session at Joe’s house.

If for some reason the player doesn’t show in your browser, you can also see the video on the Stickam site, HERE.
