Kinda sounds like a law firm, or maybe a successful singing duo.

Nope, just two of the most talented VO women in the business…and prolific too.

Normally I post the link to Julie Williams’ informative monthly newsletter on its own…but it just so happens that THE VOICE-OVER INSIDER for January came into my e-mailbox the same day as the lovely Deb Munro’s latest newsletter.  And since they’re friends and associates, I hope they don’t mind that I throw them in together here.

munro HERE is the link to Deb’s newsletter.  I know Deb is about as busy as a VO can be, so that might be why we haven’t heard from her in a while (at least I haven’t).  So you’ll enjoy all the new stuff she has to share, including some new links, and lots of info.

Julie’s Newsletter is always chock-full, and for some reason, this one seemed to take a long time too download (and I tried it on 4 different browsers).  Just know…it’s WELL worth the wait.

Do NOT miss the chance to hear what Deb and Julie have to say…your VO world will be richer.

santaSanta outdid himself with some great info on the December SaVoa newsletter.

Executive Board member Thom Wilkins does an outstanding job designing this and making it interesting.  Affiliates explained, new members introduced, and a few other things you probably didn’t know about the Society of Accredited Voice Over Artists.

Click HERE (or on Santa) to see the whole thing.

social_networking_sites (2) For about an hour-and-a-half this last Saturday, I waxed eloquent on the topic of social media for a few score VO-types on a teleseminar sponsored by VoiceOverDirectory.com.

Ironically enough, my audio was so-so…(bad phone connection), but apparently the content was engaging enough that quite a few of the participants wrote with requests for a hard copy that I promised to compose.

It strikes me that  many of you may glean a little something from my ramblings too (or not)..

You can see a copy of the newsletter: LEVERAGING SOCIAL MEDIA FOR VOICE OVER BUSINESSES HERE.

Please let me know what you think of the content.

vocareer VO Career.com sent out an engaging newsletter early this week that you may want to take note of…certainly worth a few minutes to visit the site HERE and take a look around.

‘Some knowledgeable articles, links, and references to people in the business who have made a good name for themselves (i.e. Deb Munro).

I’m honestly not all that familiar with this resource, so this is a neutral referral…but I can see some quality work that’s gone into this newsletter, and would welcome any feedback you have about VOCareer.com.

edgestudio Read this blog often enough, and you’ll begin to see I quote and reference certain sources more than others.

One of my faves is Edge Studio in NYC.  If you haven’t signed up for their newsletter, send a blank email to:  VoiceOverToday-on@edgestudio.com today.  Most all of their info is golden. No…make that all.

Try this, promise yourself to read one section of their helpful website a week, and in one year, you’ll still have stuff left to read.  Free.

In case you didn’t get their most recent newsletter, I’m re-purposing it below the fold.

The headline is ‘4 REASONS WHY PROFESSIONAL VOICE TALENT START LOSING WORK’, but following the article, there are a number of links and offers from services obviously affiliated with Edge…and they’re also worth a quick look.

edge studioEdge Studio continues it’s helpful series of postings under the heading of VO Mistakes, with it’s fourth installment: TEMPO MISTAKES.

Previous mistake topics already dissected:  Pronunciation Mistakes, Business Etiquette Mistakes, and Direction Taking Mistakes…all golden.

In fact, the Edge Studio website is replete with great FREE information.  Founder David Goldberg is a fount of experience and knowledge, and an hour with him – though decidedly not free – is well worth every penny if you don’t happen to live in NYC.

See these other helpful Edge Studio website links:

edge studioDavid Goldberg’s Edge Studio in NYC is tops.

No, I’ve not been there.  I HAVE conducted several paid phone sessions with David himself, all worth every penny.

…and I see the clients, the students, and the associates that come and go at Edge…not a slacker in the bunch.

David is about the best I’ve ever seen at picking out what details — sometimes seemingly inconsequential nuances — can make big impressions on your prospects, your clients, the target of your marketing programs and more.

Things like proper spelling, networking etiquette, and understanding the psychology of inter-relating to people.  He’s just tops at that.  Also getting to the point of what will and what won’t ingratiate you to those whose attention you need to curry the most.  Things like designing a website that caters to the eye of your visitors…not you.  Making it cunningly simple for your prospect to take notice of your marketing efforts.

I’m repeating myself.

You’ll see what I mean when you read David’s “15 THINGS NOT TO SAY IN YOUR VOICEOVER COVER LETTER”.  The tips were just one section of his most recent newsletter.  You’d do well to subscribe.  I read each one top to bottom, and I’m the better for it.

TO SUBSCRIBE: send a blank email to:  VoiceOverToday-on@edgestudio.com

Also, thanks to David for his permission in reprinting his tips below.  In return he only asks that I post the following:

Thanks David!
