Amplify Your Cinch

People tell me they expect this blog to help them say abreast of social media trends…knowing that I’m an unrepentant geek, as well as a passionate voice actor.

OK, well, I can’t take credit for either of the two following suggestions.  Someone else told me about them, but maybe you haven’t heard of them yet.

Mastermind of the December NYC VO Mixer, Erik Sheppard of VoiceTalentProductions.com fame passed this along to me.  It’s one of those sites that instantly multiplies your posts…like Posterous and Ping…but this interface is VERY easy, intuitive, and if you use Chrome or Flock, you can just install a quick browser extension that lets you spread the word.  You can configure Amplify to post to Twitter, FaceBook, Posterous, your blog, Ping.fm…yada, yada, yada.  The service also keeps track of your posts, and people can subscribe to your stuff on your Amplify page, which you can customize with your own picture, profile, etc.  Think of it as Twitter meets FaceBook, meets Ping.  Play with it.  It’s quite easy to figure out.  Scroll down this blogsite, and see how Amplify blogged my first post for me…right here on my own blog.
.
Funny that when I posted my first Amplify message, it ended up on Twitter where one of Las Vegas’ most prolific social media guys @24K (Chris Rauschnot) immediately wrote back with attaboys, and then suggested I try out Cinch.

Cinchcast.com is, yes, similar to Amplify in it’s social media flavor of building a profile, spreading messages, and garnering followers, but what makes it different from Amplify and others is that it lets you attach an audiofile of your voice to the message.  I’ve blogged about these sites before (Chirbit and TweetMic comes to mind), and their possible value to voice actors in particular.

If you accept the concept that a constant presence on social media sites help you build relationships and trust surrounding your personality, then think how an oft-placed audiofile would augment that even further.  Once people get used to hearing your voice, it  solidifies your personna as a person “who does that voice-over thing…I know, right?…”  This service is also pretty brainless to setup and get going.  I had my first post up and running in 5 minutes.  Oh, and there’s an iPhone Cinch app, too…so you can post right from your smartphone.

Check ‘em out.  As I’ve often said before: these are tools, folks.  If they work for ya…great.  If they turn into a problematic time-suck…fuggitaboutit!
