Moderate the Debate

In my other life, I’m a news anchorman for a TV station in Las Vegas.  KLAS, the CBS affiliate…only the best source for news in Southern Nevada, and a darn fine TV station.  I know…I’ve worked for many, but none as nice as this one.

This Sunday at 6pm PST our station is sponsoring a debate between the two Gubernatorial candidates, neither of them incumbents.  Rory Reid will represent the Democratic party and Brian Sandoval will represent the Republican party.

The sole issue being tackled in this debate is EDUCATION.   Nevada shows up at the bottom of most surveys that compare the condition of our education system to almost any other state in the country.  Nevada, like all the other 49 states, faces unprecedented budget cuts.  Therein lies the quandary, and the heart of the debate:  how to improve a dismal education system without breaking the back of NV taxpayers.
