Remember the other day when I posted a blog about computing in the cloud? (Cloud Drive)
Well, forget that. Not that it was a bad idea. I just have something better. Another productivity tool that may just be what you’re looking for in pleasing your voiceover clients (uploading files?).
It’s all part of what Microsoft is building as their answer to cloud computing, and it’s pretty impressive. For instance, the Cloud Drive I mentioned in the previous article offers 5Gigs free. SkyDrive offers 25Gigs free. Uh-huh.
The SkyDrive thing is all part of the “Windows Live” offering of familiar MS Office Suite apps, but online — no doubt prompted by pressure from Zoho and Google Docs. It’s tied into your hotmail or MSN email passport account. Honestly, MS has tried so much stuff built around that passport account that I’ve lost track. The guys in Redmond, though, have put a ton of money, thought, and effort into Windows Live and SkyDrive…and it’s worth a second look.
Setting up the account is brainless, and much like other online sharing concepts, you can grant “permissions” for people to have access to things (or not).
I wish I could flesh out the features a little more, but I’m just diving into it myself — exploring all the ins ‘n’ outs.
Let me know how you’re using Windows Live or SkyDrive if this is old hat to you.
