Just to add my thoughts to Dave's 3 points:

1. Networking. I feel privileged to have made many connections in the last year with other voice artists internationally. Those who have connected with me know that I am based in Istanbul, Turkey, and that I value these associations highly. However I have to ask myself is knowing someone vitually = virtually knowing someone? Dave Courvoisier is an excellent example of someone I am looking forward to meeting in person at VOICE2010. He has been a good online friend to me, but I am certain that this relationship will become even more valuable once we have been able to shake hands physically - or rub shoulders, as someone put it. In fact to add to Dave's list of myths, I was told that the conference was "only good for those who want to rub shoulders" with other vo artists. So be it. My shoulders are ready, and if this is what it will take to make great relationships I will be happy to either shake your hand and/or rub shoulders with you!
The learning aspects of the conference are similar. If you believe you have nothing to learn, you are probably right. However I sense that the formal sessions and informal encounters, mixers, whatever, will all be great learning and sharing opportunties.

2. It is a business. However I've heard a rumour and I know some real numbers. As you might expect the rumour vastly inflated the truth. I'm looking forward to meeting James and Penny, they actually seem pretty generous to me. Of the several teleseminar series currently available, which ones are free? That's right: www.voiceacting.com

3. I'm probably not going to win the prize for travelling the furthest, and my initial plan had been to bring my family (my wife is a Turkish vo). Can I afford to go? Well, to answer that, I'm specifically looking for corporate sponsorship, and dreaming of how else to raise the funds I need. I know I have to be there, and hope that I'll have the chance to meet YOU, too. If you want to help me I'll be setting up a page on my website (http://andyboyns.com/vo/sponsor) in the next few days, so come and visit!

Nicely put, Dave. I can't wait for VOICE. I like your 'honourable mention' - and hey, if all of us internationals can trek over, then you guys have no excuse, right? Just kidding!

Well stated, Dave. I am looking forward to my third trip to VOICE this year, which I've often referred to as "Voiceover Disneyland".
All The Best,
Bobbin
