Last Days of Vakay

Just a day or two until I’m back to the busy world of responsibility and work. Finishing up my vacation in my little hometown of Greenville, IL. This is the Bond Co. Courthouse in the town square.

I approach my Wednesday return to reality with trepidation and preparation… If you’ve been checking in here…thanks! I’ve probably been most concerned about losing momentum in my VO work, and losing regular visitors to this blog during my time away. Probably neither is true, but such is the pace of the world these days…jump off the “grid” long enough and you start falling behind and missing out. Example: I surfaced late last week to hear about the triad of celebrity deaths two days late. Not good for a news guy!

Thanks for following along on my trip. Relax with nothing on Monday…travel on Tuesday…back to work Wednesday.

Last Lake Day (sniff)

I just hate jet skis (water motorcycles). Hate ‘em…. They’re just no fun at all!

Lazy on the Lake

Under the radar on the water

A day lost to travel…well, not lost… But not what I REALLY want to be doing either… Travel is tedious…

Bored daughters. What did kids do before iPods?

KY R & R

When you’re gainfully employed…’have kids and responsibilities, you’re rarely truly without a care in the world.  But you can come close.
For the next few days I’m off on a family vacation to Kentucky Lake.

This is a comfortable and familiar place for the 5 of us.  My middle daughter will be a HS Senior next year, and the Summer after that will be taken…so we do a family vakay in the Summer between Junior and Senior years.  For my oldest daughter (now in college), we did the Carnival cruise down the Mexican Riviera.  This daughter and this year: KY Lake.

The fishing is good (although I don’t), but the lazy is excellent.  Boating, lazing, jet-skiing, lazing, swimming, lazing, dirt-biking, lazing.  You get the idea.  We’re with the best of friends, so I’m planning for a fish fry, a Bar-B-Q, a couple of good cigars, and lots of great conversation.

Yes, I’m taking my portable VO set-up, ’cause one client already told me to expect it.  But internet connections are dicey on the lake.  (yes, we have flush toilets and electric lights). So I may have to run into nearby Murray State University to find some Wi-Fi.

I will blog to the best of my connections…but don’t expect a lot of tips about voiceover, ’cause my mind won’t be there.  You might see some wonderful pics, though, and hear a tall tale or two.

Blessings,

VOICE2010 Announcement

voice2010-buttonbox-180x150You’ll be catching a lot about VOICE2010 on this blog between now and June of ’10.

I’ve been with this event from the start in Las Vegas in ’07.  James Alburger and Penny Abshire have been generous to me, and I appreciate that they’ve brought together portions of out business that have never had a chance to coalesce…coordinating a hurculean effort to bring information, technology, and personalities under one umbrella for a few days.

Now, I’m happy to report that I will once again be playing a hi-profile role in the conference…so as part of the VOICE 2010 organization, I’m asking YOU, now, to really think hard about planning for this event one year from now.  We’re gonna have a BLAST…and the ideas being tossed around by Jim and Penny will make this the VO event of the year!

OK, I’m stoked, so forgive my enthusiasm…but I really hope to see you there.

AudioBook Training from one of the Best

Betty Zoller tells it like it is, and she tells it good.

Not just audiobooks…but it’s certainly one of her best classes to take.

See below for the announcement of her next upcoming class.  You wanted to see Dallas in the Summer, anyway, didn’t you.
