Optimum Opdyke

PoynterThe Poynter Institute
is well-known among working journalist-types for it's top-notch support, training, articles, symposiums, and networking (and I'm sure I'm leaving something out).

In a sense they're the leader in maintaining journalistic standards and ethics.  They're the "conscience" of print and broadcast journalists everywhere.

I'm not sure why they still have that "beta" shingle on their logo.  Their website looks mighty complete to me.

At any rate, one of their top writers — Chip Scanlan — who publishes a regular column called "Chip on Your Shoulder", just put out a dandy article on Voice Actor and fellow journalist Tom Opdyke.  It includes a revealing Q & A, touching on many issues close to the heart of any voice actor:  preparation, distinguishing between voices, maintaining consistency during long-format narrations, eliminating mouth clicks, utilizing theatre skills in narrating, and more.

Nice going Chip!…and my thanks to voice artist Karen Commins for getting my attention about this article in her twitter post.
