VOICE 2008 is gaining momentum.
The "Advance Team" (sounds important, doesn't it?) had another phone conference call tonite, and while there are some incredibly COOL things planned that I cannot yet tell you about, it almost doesn't matter, 'cause what's already announced is awesome.
Just a few things you should know:
- The conference rate of $597 is good from now until July 31st….then it goes up $100 till the conference starts…then it goes up another $100.
- There is a day rate to attend the conference of $225
- If you want to attend just for the exhibit area, and to rub elbows with whomever, it’s $50/day.
- Make your hotel reservations, now. The single-room rate of $169 is an incredible buy, considering it’s L-A, and it’s the Hyatt. What we’re hearing is that it’s a very busy weekend for a lot of other reasons in the city on those days, and hotel rooms are not going to be easy to find. There is a July 10th deadline for getting that $169 room rate. Also, i’ts $20/day just to park a car at the hotel, so take that into consideration.
- If you book your flight on American Airlines with American Airlines (not Travelocity, or Expedia, or some such), you can get a 5% discount. Details on that available on the VOICE 2008 website.
- Every attendee will get two resource books this year. The usual workbook with material from the presenters is a given, but there will also be a “program” book with an official exhibitor directory, info and bios on the presenters, articles and advertising. This program book will be distributed to a number of influential production houses, people of influence in the VO industry and to business-people whom you might like to reach. To that end, ad space IS available, and you should contact Curt Byk about those details ([email protected]). Do it soon, though, the advertising deadline is next week.
- ISDN will be available AT the Hotel for those who have commitments to clients.
- Two of the planned presenters have had to bow-out for various reasons, but are being replaced with worthy substitutes. David Coleman of SoundStreak, and Dan Balestrero are the one who will be absent.
- You may want to re-visit registration before the event to make sure you’re up on some of the programming and presenter schedule changes (see directly above)…so that you’re at the place you want to be.
- Finally, a new area called “Tech Talk Terrace” will be open every day for free to all comers who just want some one-on-one advice from people adept at software/hardware issues. They’re volunteering their experience, and welcome all questions. That will be open whenever the exhibit area is open.
That’s about it….but that’s a lot! And there’s more…so check back here from time to time for the latest.
Can’t wait to see YOU there!
